About 100 people gathered at Coledale Community Hall on Sunday afternoon for the launch of Together We Can, a collection of stories about everyday Australians doing amazing things to give our planet a future, by Austinmer author Claire O'Rourke.
The August 14 book launch featured a panel discussion with Claire; the ABC's War on Waste presenter Craig Reucassel; Wollongong City Councillor Mithra Cox; and actor Yael Stone, founder of Hi Neighbour, a community organisation committed to a renewables energy transformation. It also included talks by representatives from local groups, such as Electrify 2515, the Flame Tree Co-op and Green Connect.
"It was a fantastic afternoon full of thoughtful conversation, generous contributions from the panel and incredible local climate and sustainability organisations – I learned a lot," Claire O'Rourke said.
"I'm so grateful to the South Coast Writers Centre for hosting this event that connected this wonderful community about the mission for our planet right here on Dharawal Country."
Together We Can is published by Allen & Unwin and can be found at Collins Booksellers Thirroul or at your local bookstore.
