Jetties are beautiful walkways, a place to pause, surrounded by the peace of the water, and enjoy the vast scenery. One of our favourite things to do as a family is to go to a playground in the late afternoon/evening, grab some fish and chips and sit on the jetty and enjoy a simple meal together in a beautiful place. Here are some gorgeous suggestions across the region to explore.
1. Lakeside Drive, Koonawarra
The jetty here has recently been replaced and extends into the lake. It’s a short walk to the playground (and a few shops, including a fish and chip shop across the road). My little one loves riding her bike between the jetty and the playground! The breeze can be just magic and it can be surprisingly peaceful, just dangling our legs over the edge of the jetty – while always being alert for crazy toddler mode!
2. Holborn Park, Berkeley
This jetty is definitely recommended if you have older kids who don't appreciate peacefully sitting! It’s right beside a skate park with a basketball hoop, a cycleway and a playground. The older kids can be active (please note, the skatepark is near a main road) while you may enjoy solo adult time amid the serenity of the lake, while still being close enough if needed.
3. Titania Park, Greenwell Point
Want to get a workout before sitting and enjoying a well-deserved rest? Check out the new outdoor equipment along the Shoalhaven River! With seven pieces of equipment for all parts of the body and a playground, barbecues and toilets available, it’s a beautiful spot to work up a sweat for the body and then relax for the mind!
