Helensburgh Tigers and Tigerlillies are recruiting

By Dodge Cobb, president of Helensburgh Tigers Rugby League Football Club

The 2024 rugby league season might be over but we never rest.

Next year’s going to be another step up for the Helensburgh Tigers. We’re continuing our campaign back into the top grade with the introduction of an Under 18s squad to compete in the Southern Corridor next year focussing on fitness and footy. 2015 Under 18s coach and one of our club greats Trevor Kissell will kick off our pre-season in November and we’ll march into 2025 with our under 18s and our Reserve grade and a third grade building on the depth that’s an absolute must if we’re going to get back into 1st grade in the near future.

Our Open Ladies League Tag will return with the hunger of having made it to the grand final this year, aiming to finish the job next year.

Our 30+ Ladies League Tag hit that learning curve in their first competition this year and are super pumped to come back stronger and test themselves with what they’ve learnt.

Our return into the women’s tackle space in 2025 has been in the pipeline for a while now and the time has come for us to pounce. We hope to emulate our historic rise of the twenty-teens with a really good mix of experience and enthusiasm.

Our Tigerlillies are actively recruiting now for the 2025 season.

Here’s what Maddy Campbell has to say: "The culture of a club can greatly influence the community by fostering inclusivity, teamwork, and support. So become part of Helensburgh Tigers, help contribute to building a sense of unity and pride within the community, creating a space for growth, empowerment, and camaraderie. Learn a new skill and make a new mate.

"Playing Rugby League as a woman is an incredible opportunity to showcase your strength, skills, and determination.

"Women bring a unique perspective to the game, breaking stereotypes and inspiring others with their passion and resilience on the field.

"Embracing rugby league as a woman not only challenges you physically but also empowers you mentally and emotionally. The camaraderie, teamwork, and thrill of the game creates an environment where you can push your limits, build lasting friendships, and prove that women can excel in any sport.

"So, if you have the desire to push boundaries, to stand out, and to be part of a strong, supportive team, then rugby league is the perfect avenue to unleash your potential and make your mark in the world of sports. Be part of the legacy, and come give playing for the Burgh ago."
