Otford Public School hosts first Sustainability Fair

Mark your calendars for an exciting and eco-conscious day out at Otford Public School's first-ever Sustainability Fair on Sunday, November 26, from 10am to 3pm. The school is on Station Road in Otford and its event promises to be a delightful blend of fun, education and community engagement, all centred around the theme of sustainability.

Entry fee is $5 per person or $15 for a family and you will have access to a variety of activities and stalls promoting environmentally friendly practices and fostering a sense of community responsibility.

The fair aims to inspire people to make sustainable choices in their daily lives, whether they are nature enthusiasts, concerned citizens or families wanting to make practical changes.

Here's a glimpse of what you can expect at the Otford PS Sustainability Fair:

  • Clothes & Toy Swap: If you have any used clothes and toys that need a new home, please drop them off to the team before the event. Email otfordpc@gmail.com or get in touch via the Facebook page to arrange a drop off.
  • eWaste & Textile Drop-Off: Dispose of your electronic waste responsibly and contribute to textile recycling by using designated drop-off points at the fair.
  • FOGO Treasure Hunt: Take part in a FOGO treasure hunt, which makes learning about composting and organic waste disposal an enjoyable adventure.
  • Junkyard Rascals Play Areas: Children can have fun in play areas highlighting the importance of repurposing and creativity using recycled materials.
  • Plant a Seed Workshop: Join Gilly's Kitchen Garden for a hands-on 'plant a seed' workshop.
  • Book Sale: Discover a diverse range of second-hand books.
  • Sausage Sizzle: Refuel with a delicious sausage sizzle, a classic Australian tradition at community events.
  • Blender Bike: Hop on the Blender Bike, where you can pedal your way to a refreshing shake, combining fitness and sustainability in a unique way.

"Otford Public School's Sustainability Fair is more than just an event – it's a celebration of our commitment to a greener future," says Sarah Deitz, P&C president at Otford Public School.

"Join us on November 26 for a day of learning, sharing and community spirit. Together, we can make a lasting impact on our environment and inspire sustainable choices for generations to come."

The Otford Public School Sustainability Fair wouldn't be possible without the support of its generous sponsors and partners. A big thank you to Raine & Horne Helensburgh, Horizon Bank, Reclaim Your Space, Gillys Kitchen Garden, Wollongong City Council, MRi Technologies, and DLG Australia for their contributions to this eco-friendly initiative.

Don't miss this chance to connect with your community, learn about sustainable practices and have a great time with family and friends.
