Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District media release: 15 September 2021
Illawarra and Shoalhaven residents aged 12-59 years will be given priority access to the Pfizer vaccine from Monday 20 September, following the allocation of additional Pfizer doses by the Commonwealth Government.
The Mass Vaccination Centre in Wollongong will be the first to deliver the additional Pfizer doses, with further rollout to our Shoalhaven Hospital Vaccination Clinic expected over the coming weeks.
“We know people have been eagerly awaiting the Pfizer vaccine, and our staff will be working hard over the next few weeks to vaccinate as many people as possible,” said Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery and Clinical Governance, Deborah Cameron.
“This significant supply boost will also allow us to direct more Pfizer doses to our outreach and mobile vaccination programs, aimed at protecting our most vulnerable communities against COVID.”
Bookings are essential and will be available via the Eligibility Checker from Monday 20 September. People will receive appointments for both doses of the vaccine upon registration.
Those with an existing Pfizer appointment will receive a text message or email inviting them to log-in to the Vaccination Booking Portal and move their appointment forward, prior to appointments opening to the wider eligible public on Monday.
Those requiring assistance with rescheduling or making an appointment can submit an enquiry via the ISLHD website or call our Bookings team directly on 1300 096 365.
People must not attend their vaccination appointment if they have any COVID-19 symptoms and should get tested and self-isolate until they receive a negative test result. People should also stay home if they are a close contact of a confirmed case.
The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 8,235,534, with 3,057,407 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 5,178,127 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11:59pm on Sunday 12 September 2021.
