Grant for Thirroul Music Collective

Media Release: Thursday, 17 December 2020

Member for Heathcote Lee Evans is pleased to announce Thirroul Music Collective will receive $3,000 in funding through the 2021 Country Arts Support Program.

Regional NSW community arts and cultural organisations will receive grants of up to $5,000 for projects bringing the local cultural sector back to life after a year of bushfires, floods and pandemic.

Mr Evans said the Thirroul Music Collective is extremely worthy of this funding and will use it to host the Thirroul Music Festival 2021.

“The Thirroul Music Festival 2021 attracts NSW’s best artists to Thirroul for a two-day celebration of folk and country music, across 5 under-utilised and unique music venues,” said Mr Evans.

“This is an event music lovers and local business owners can look forward to after such a challenging year,” said Mr Evans.

Minister for the Arts Don Harwin said the grants will benefit both arts organisations and regional communities as the investments builds projects that deliver bigger audiences both locally and from abroad.

“Our regional arts organisations have struggled this year through a drop in tourism and the economic pressures brought by a global pandemic. The NSW Government is providing investment and support at a key time to bring audiences back to our galleries and stages, and bring confidence and growth back to communities,” Mr Harwin said.

The Thirroul Music Collective are among 83 arts and cultural organisations and local collectives sharing in over $260,000 funding primarily supporting professional artists’ fees, travel and accommodation to activate a range of activities.

The 2021 Country Arts Support Program is delivered through Create NSW in partnership with the 14 Regional Arts Development Organisations.
