Wollongong City Council media release: Thursday 11 August 2022
We're running several events this month to help our community drop off their extra garden waste and household chemicals.
The Household Chemical Collection and Garden Organics Waste Drop-off is the perfect opportunity to get rid of waste safely and for free.
For more information about the free community recycling events, including what you’re able to drop-off, please visit our Waste website.
Garden Organics Waste Drop off
The free green waste drop-off is an alternative to your household green-lidded bins. Get rid of your extra small branches and shrubs, fallen leaves, twigs and debris.
Make sure to bring proof that you live in the Wollongong Local Government Area, such as a driver's licence.
The two events will be held on:
- Sunday 14 August, between 8am-12noon at Ziems Park Corrimal
- Sunday 21 August, between 8am-12noon at Fred Finch Park Berkeley.
To find out more, check out our Garden Organics Waste events page. Community members are reminded to stay in their vehicles when attending.
Household Chemical Collection
Say goodbye to household chemicals and problem waste! You can drop off items such as garden chemicals, cleaning products, poisons, acids, batteries, pool chemicals, gas bottles, motor oils and fuels, and paint and we’ll dispose of them safely for you.
We only accept household quantities of chemicals (20L or 20kg) and up to 100L (in 20L containers) of paint.
This event will be held on:
- Sunday 28 August, between 9am to 3.30pm at North Dalton Park Carpark Fairy Meadow
Find out more by visiting the Household Chemical Cleanout event webpage. Community members are reminded to stay in their vehicles when attending.
This is a NSW Environment Protection Authority Waste Less Recycle More initiative funded by the waste levy.
