Corrimal Pool to close for annual maintenance

Wollongong City Council media release: Friday 5 August 2022

The 49-year-old Corrimal Pool will be taking its annual winter break next Monday for scheduled maintenance works.

On Monday 8 August the 50m heated pool and facilities will close so that we can undertake scheduled maintenance including tile repairs and maintenance to the pool concourse, plant and equipment. The 25m pool was closed a week early on Monday 1 August.

This routine work is part of Council’s annual maintenance program of our pools. We know that our pools are important and are valued by our community. That’s why we’re committed to regular upkeep on our public pools so that they continue to meet national standards and are safe and enjoyable for community use.

We anticipate the works to be completed within a month. Depending on weather and other conditions, we’ll reopen the 50m pool first on Monday 29 August and the 25m pool on Monday 5 September.

“We’re committed to upkeeping and servicing our facilities, such as our public pools, to make sure they’re functional now and for the future,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

“Our pools are some of our most popular assets across our city, so we need to take some time to do maintenance works every year. The planned maintenance also helps reduce unexpected works throughout the swim season, improves safety, and extends the pool’s life.

“As we expect more visitors during our warmer months, we’re taking the opportunity to do our works now, before our busier periods hit. We appreciate the patience of our winter swimmers and regular users of Corrimal Pool while we complete these works.”

In the meantime, we encourage swimmers to visit our other pools such as Beaton Park Heated Pool, Dapto Heated Pool or the Continental Pool. More details including pool opening times are available on our Pools page on our website.

We’re also getting ready to start work on a new project – upgrading the Western Suburbs Pool in Unanderra. We have exciting plans to upgrade the ageing toddlers pool with a new, interactive and accessible water play facility.
