Coalcliff residents were temporarily cut off on Saturday, April 6 after intense rain led to flash flooding and multiple landslides that closed Lawrence Hargrave Drive. While recovery work has reopened the road, permanent repairs will take longer.
"Lawrence Hargrave Drive was closed between Coalcliff Station and Clifton School Parade over the weekend due to multiple landslides and extreme scouring of the gully above the road, that resulted in soil and rock debris on the road, pavement damage and blocked drainage pipes," a Transport for NSW spokesperson said today.
"Over the weekend Transport for NSW crews worked to clear debris and unblock drains to provide safe access for road users and were able to open Lawrence Hargrave Drive under single-lane closures and traffic control on Sunday, 7 April.
"Current traffic control will remain in place until pavement and drainage repairs can be carried out.
"Following the immediate recovery work over the coming days our focus will shift to carrying out permanent repair work."
The spokesperson said TfNSW will continue to keep the community informed about the progress of repairs.
