News from the Office of Heathcote MP Maryanne Stuart

Tuesday, 11 February 2025: Bulli town centre improvements progressing

Work on a number of traffic improvements in Bulli’s town centre is set to begin this year to provide more efficient and reliable journeys to and through Bulli.

Improvements are to include additional parking, pedestrian facilities, placemaking treatments and changes to traffic flow along the Princes Highway, Station and Railway streets and Park Road.

The changes were put on hold following some concerns being raised about the extensions of clearway hours on the Princes Highway while Transport for NSW carried out further investigations.

Further traffic modelling confirmed the need for extended clearway hours to reduce queuing impacts associated with the introduction of the right turn green arrow at Park Road.

Feedback received during the Bulli Bypass consultation also included strong support for the extension of clearways in Bulli.

With further modelling now complete and the Review of Environmental Factors currently being finalised, work on the improvements is expected to start by mid-2025, weather permitting.

Upgrades in Bulli will include new parking spaces and carpark upgrades on Railway and Station streets, removing right turns in and out of Station Street and introducing a dedicated right turn arrow at Park Road.

A new 30 km/h speed zone will be introduced on Park Road and Station, Railway and Bank streets and Veigals Lane.

There will also be improvements to the safety of walking and cycling facilities through a new shared pathway on Railway Street and two raised pedestrian crossings on Park Road and Railway Street.

Extended clearways on the Princes Highway will be introduced weekdays from 6.30am to 9.30am and 3pm to 6pm in both directions, and Saturday southbound only from 11am to 1pm. The existing clearway hours are southbound 6.30am to 9.30am, and northbound 3pm to 6pm, weekdays.

Transport will provide more information on timing of each stage and traffic impacts associated with the Bulli town centre improvements as details are available.

The latest information is available at Transport for NSW's website.

Maryanne Stuart MP, Member for Heathcote said: "These town centre improvements for Bulli will provide improved journeys for our community and those visiting the area. They will provide additional parking, pedestrian facilities, and changes to traffic flow along the Princes Highway, Station and Railway streets and Park Road.

“We were told through consultation and feedback that community members and visitors largely welcome the changes and anticipated improved traffic flow in the area.

“I am looking forward to seeing the work on this project kick-off mid-2025.”
