Challenges and Triumphs: Inside Lindsay Dimovski’s marketing business

Port Kembla local Lindsay Dimovski grew up in Sydney amid a family business, so she understands the tasks that entrepreneurs face. It's what inspired her to found Litt Inc AU and provide bespoke marketing strategies for small- to medium-sized enterprisesRead on to understand the challenges Lindsay faces and the support system that has been instrumental to her success.

Please tell us a bit about yourself.

Growing up Sydney, I moved to the Illawarra 15 years ago after meeting my husband. My greatest passion is family and am proudly the mum of two fabulous daughters and wife to an amazing man.

We work hard and play harder, ensuring memories are made together. In 2017 we drove around Australia in six weeks, spending most of the time between Darwin and Perth knowing how hard it is to get there. Our daughters were only three and five and those memories will remain with us forever.

What do you do?

I help businesses navigate the marketing world with a tailored approach aimed to meet business goals. In uncertain economic times this may be retaining market share and protecting operations, or be business as usual activity.

Why did you start this business?

Growing up in a family business, I lived through hard economic times and the impact on small business. I watched closely the challenges and questioned what alternate pathways could have been implemented to have better outcomes. This experience gave such impact and passion, driving my entry into media and marketing over 20 years ago.

Since then I have been honoured to work at Australia's largest publishers and agencies and saw a need for businesses to be able to tap into a Chief Marketing Officer or Marketing Agency on their terms.

Every business is unique and on its own journey, and small- to medium-sized businesses often don't have the capacity to hire the level of marketing knowledge or experience that they need to deliver on their business goals. At Litt Inc we build trusted partnerships with our clients to deliver better business outcomes to assist those businesses, just like my family, to navigate the marketing world.

What challenges have you run into and how have you overcome these?

Client Expectations – In a world where everyone promises amazing outcomes, to be able to stand out and capture attention from potential partners is challenging. We have established clear communication channels and reporting, as well as educate our clients about the processes to set realistic goals based on timelines and budgets, aligned to their goals and desired outcomes.

Staying Updated with Trends – Marketing is constantly changing, and will continue to. Through leading publisher relationships and on-going training, Litt Inc stays up to date with trends, and takes a conservative approach to roll trends out, with a tailored approach to meeting business goals.

Who has helped you and you would you like to thank?

My professional network for their on-going support and referrals. Trust is such a big part of buying decisions and those referrals are valued beyond words.

To my husband and daughters, who sometimes have to wait so I can respond to clients or staff, or shuffle things around to ensure I can attend what is needed, they are the bomb. Without that extra support from my mother-in-law and father-in-law, my children wouldn't feel as supported in this process when I am unavailable and I am forever grateful.

My OG clients, without you coming on board and continuing my business wouldn't be growing as it is, you are valued.

Support local journalists
From June 3-7, the Illawarra Flame is taking part in the nationwide #OurNewsYourVoice fundraiser, run by the Local and Independent News Association (LINA). We are one of 33 independent publications around the country calling on readers to support our work. LINA members come in different shapes and sizes, print and digital, pay-walled and free, but they’re all playing a vital role in connecting, informing and empowering their communities. At the Flame, we’re continuing to reinvest in public interest journalism, hiring and mentoring the young local graduates and emerging writers who are our storytellers of the future.
