From Pho to Banh Mi, find a Taste of Vietnam in Wollongong

The presence of Vietnamese immigrants in Wollongong has contributed to the city's cultural diversity and left a lasting impact on our vibrant culinary scene.

Among the array of international cuisines available, Vietnamese food has gained a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike. With its fresh ingredients, aromatic herbs, and delicate balance of flavours, Vietnamese cuisine is a popular choice for those seeking a taste of South-East Asia.

Here are some of my favourites:

  • An Chut Chut – Hands down my favourite restaurant, let alone Vietnamese restaurant, in Wollongong. The food and decor takes you right back to the streets of Ho Chi Minh. The pork rolls are a must!
  • Mylan Restaurant – Has been an institution for fine Vietnamese Cuisine in Wollongong for almost 20 years. Delicious cheap eats, BYO and the vermicelli salads are the stuff of dreams.
  • Bun Me Bar – The shop in Lake Heights unfortunately closed earlier this year but the food truck has been continuing to feed locals. The owners have also announced the opening of ‘Krisp’ in Dapto in a few weeks. Stay up to date via the Facebook page.
  • QP Bakery – Popular with local tradies, this Berkeley bakery makes the best Vietnamese pork rolls, with crispy crusts and fresh salad.
