Humpback Highway: Watch whales head north in vet’s videos

A local vet with a passion for drone photography captured incredible footage of whales migrating along the Illawarra coast at the weekend.

"These were filmed near Kiama, great place for whale watching!" Ashley Sykes said. "I was out to look for whales specifically, I'm whale-addicted."

Ashley has shared two highlights from his weekend's work, including footage of tail slaps and whales and dolphins racing north together.

"This was filmed with my Mavic 3 Pro drone. It has 1x, 3x and 7x cameras and can film in 5k, so it's amazing at getting close to the action while being at a safe distance. It has a good flight time, which allows me to find and film the interesting stuff the whales do!"

Originally from the UK, Ashley moved to Australia in 2018, attracted by the weather and the wildlife. Read more in this article by Amanda De George.
