Hello, honey suppliers

The art of beekeeping, with its amazing golden reward, is gaining popularity. We are lucky to have several local beekeepers in the Illawarra who will share their spoils with you. Most have honeycomb as well.

Remember that honey and honeycomb supply is directly affected by the season, what’s flowering locally and the weather (bees don’t like rain and drought is an issue too).

I recently wrote about Luke and his hives, so this is just a reminder that you can get his honey from the farmgate at Bulli.

Mead is an alcoholic drink made from honey, so check this out too.

Another passionate local beekeeper located at Mt Pleasant. They also have beautiful beeswax wraps, candles and lip balm.

A family business that sells South Coast honey and provides education, establishment and management services for beekeepers, schools and community groups.

Beautiful Mt Ousley honey and honeycomb.

This sustainable, chemical-free farm in Warrawong produces a limited supply of honey for veg box customers only.

100% raw, unprocessed and unadulterated honey available to purchase online or through Kiama stockists.

A family business that grew from the desire to increase the population of bees in the area. They have a great article which explains crystallisation of raw honey, and dispels myths that it is spoiled.

Find blackbutt, red gum and spotted gum organic honey in small (500g) and large (1kg) jars at Glenbernie Orchard's AppleShack farm store. Plus, honey lollipops for the kids and honeymead for the adults.

There you have it. No need to buy honey from the supermarket!
