Recently, while searching for a gift for a friend who’s hard to buy for, I landed on a Nina Cantina foodie tour of Cringila. This tour opened up a whole world that I didn’t know existed!
Nina Cantina is a local foodie and artist who enjoys sharing her love of food and cooking with others. She is a passionate supporter of locally sourced food and local businesses, and keen to create a community of food lovers and growers for a sustainable future.
Apart from running foodie tours of Cringila, Warrawong and Fairy Meadow, Nina also offers cooking workshops. She has 20 years of cooking experience behind her, learning from an early age with her Greek grandmother. She also popped up recently, catering for Connecting Over Fair Food at the Innovation Campus.

Cringila, just south of Wollongong CBD, has several grocery stores and takeaway stores that specialise in Middle Eastern cuisine, selling staples such as burek (a type of flaky pie) and Lebanese pizza. There is also a patisserie in Cringila that bakes date biscuits fresh throughout the day. These are all destinations on Nina’s foodie tour, which also includes morning tea and lunch.

The icing on the top of our morning’s tour was visiting Cringila Cellars, which stocks a wide range of local craft beers. By this stage, it was after 12 noon and tastings were on offer, which is also included in the tour price.
If you would like to join one of Nina’s tours or workshops, check out what’s happening here.
