Darkes Glenbernie Orchard has to cancel Apple Pie Day

Darkes Glenbernie Orchard has had to cancel its August 27 Apple Pie Day, which was featured in the Flame's August print edition.

"We have some sad news regarding our signature event, 'Apple Pie Day'," Casey Burns announced today, on behalf of the Glenbernie Orchard/Darkes Cider team.

"Unfortunately, due to some unexpected insurance hurdles, we are unable to hold this much-awaited event as scheduled. We are absolutely gutted that we can’t share this special day with you as we’d planned, and want to assure you that we are actively working to resolve the issue.

"We'll keep you updated on our progress, and we can't wait to gather together once again for a delightful day filled with delicious apple pies, live music, activities and warm camaraderie.

We are grateful for our wonderful community, and we thank you for your patience, and support!"

Both the bake-off competition and the Apple Pie Day are on hold.
