Yours and Owls prepares to welcome 20,000 music lovers at Flagstaff Hill

Today there was a hive of activity on the Flagstaff Hill event site (no event infrastructure has been installed so far in Lang Park) ahead of the weekend's Yours and Owls festival.

The two stages now have roofs in place, food and beverage marquees have been erected on the east side of the site and there are now three layers of fencing in place to protect concert goers from the risk of falling over the cliff near the lighthouse.

The weekend forecast is looking good with the BOM predicting a cloudy Saturday and 27 degrees with the possibility of a few light showers and 25 degrees on Sunday.

The Flagstaff Hill site, described by the event organisers as one of the best in the world, was a major construction zone on Monday when the bump in began.

Two large stages are being constructed on the site and the first bank of portaloos are in place in a car park beneath the lighthouse.

While pedestrians can still access the lookout to the east of the lighthouse, the remainder of Flagstaff Hill is fenced off to the public to allow the site build to continue safely.

One traffic lane is closed on the loop to the harbour and the cenotaph within the event site has been secured to avoid damage when thousands flock to the site for the two-day festival.

Signage on site confirms much of the bump out will start opening up the venue on Monday the morning after the last act takes to the stage, with the bump out not expected to be completed until 6 March.

Organisers are expecting 20,000 music lovers will pack Flagstaff Hill and Lang Park over the weekend as Yours and Owls shifts to its fourth location in less than a decade.
