Christie Peters is set to launch the Illawarra’s first ever branch of the Australian Native Bee Association (ANBA) with a workshop and a launch on October 12th at the Thirroul Community Centre, from 9am and 12pm.
The guest speaker will be Dr Tim Heard, a renowned entomologist, president of the ANBA and the author of The Australian Native Bee Book.
Dr Heard will be travelling down from Queensland to lead the workshop focused on the vital role of Australian native stingless bees in our ecosystem. His demonstration on how to split an established hive promises to be a highlight, providing valuable insights into bee conservation, hive management and stingless bees as pets or a hobby in suburban backyards.
