And it all began on 1st August 1957 with Wollongong Toastmasters – the first club in Australia!
Our members are very proud to be part of such history. As we celebrate its milestone as Australia’s first club, we continue to look towards the future with optimism and excitement.
The very first meeting was held at the Grand Hotel, with the group founded by local businessmen.
Wollongong Toastmasters meet fortnightly on a Wednesday evening at the Wollongong Golf Club with our members keen to learn and grow in their journey for public speaking, confidence, communication and leadership skills.
There are now over 600 Toastmaster clubs in Australia and Toastmasters have developed and created opportunities for champion speakers to expand and go forth.
