Discover Wollongong’s Best Playgrounds With a View

We all know that the playground is a boring place for adults – or is that just me? I always look to make the most out of playground visits by at least enjoying the view. For families seeking a perfect blend of playtime and breathtaking Illawarra views, we have the perfect guide.

Here are my favourite playgrounds with a view – where families can enjoy a day of outdoor fun surrounded by stunning landscapes.

Austinmer Beachside Playground, Austinmer

Right beside Austinmer beach, this park is a winner. Not only is it surrounded by cliffs on one side and a beach on the other, it is fenced in. Your little ones will love jumping between the swing set, slides and climbing walls/ropes.

Matron Dunster Reserve, Wombarra

As you drive towards Wombarra Ocean Pool, look out for this playground behind Wombarra KU, the preschool. The view is north up the coastline into the National Park and it is the perfect spot for dolphin and whale watching. Plus, it has a variety of playground options for big and little kids.

Little Park, Shellharbour Village

Don’t let the name put you off. This park by the water at Shellharbour is not little. It has everything from flying foxes, multiple swing options and a nature play area to trampolines. Just sit back and let your little ones go wild, while you enjoy the water views.

Brighton Lawn Reserve, Wollongong

Right next to Levendi and steps away from the shoreline of Belmore Basin, this playground is ideal for an easy day out with the kiddies. With a built-in pirate ship, double slide, seesaw, ropes for climbing and a hop, skip and jump away from lapping harbour waves or delicious fish and chips, this will become your go-to destination.
