Lions raise funds for hospital cribs at Saturday BBQ

Hi Everyone,

We hope the marshmallows are getting a good toasting and you are all keeping warm throughout Winter.

Lions Clubs have a proud history in supporting health initiatives through Childhood Cancer Foundation, Lions Cord Blood Foundation and Save Sight, to name a few.

At a local level, it has come to our attention through Corrimal Lions Club that Wollongong Hospital's neo-natal ward has only five neo-natal humidicribs and these are in high demand. If they are unavailable, babies requiring these cribs need to be transported to Sydney, which puts additional pressure on their families. Our friends in the neo-natal ward tell us the demand is for an additional four cribs at a cost of approximately $30K each. We also hear they need to replace the ageing Bili cribs that help babies with jaundice.

Corrimal Lions Club acted immediately, with the help of the Australian Lions Foundation, and bought a crib to make it five cribs in the ward.

The Lions clubs in our Zones 1 & 2, which our Helensburgh club is part of, have joined forces with Corrimal Lions to raise funds to purchase additional cribs to allow babies to be treated locally.

Helensburgh Lions club will be allocating funds to help with this project. We will also be holding some fundraising activities with the next being a BBQ outside Coles on Saturday, 8 July. S o come along, buy a sausage sizzle and know the funds are going to help a baby in need at our local Wollongong Public Hospital.
