Member for Heathcote Lee Evans has announced that Illawarra Museum (Illawarra Historical Society Inc) is among five NSW museums sharing in this year’s Volunteer Museum Project Development Grants funding.

Mr Evans said the funding will contribute to Illawarra Museum delivering plans and projects for upcoming programming in 2021.

“The museum will receive $4,872 in funding administered by Museum & Galleries NSW on behalf of Create NSW, which will be used to improve display interpretation and enhance volunteer effectiveness,” said Mr Evans.

This NSW Government grant focuses on specific areas of volunteer-led arts and cultural organisations, and the funding will help our volunteers ensure Illawarra Museum continue to thrive and produce culturally diverse works for the community.

This year’s Museums & Galleries of NSW Volunteer Museum Projects Development Grant Fund has supported five organisations across the State with a total of $27,487. Four organisations are regional NSW-based, and one organisation is based in metro Sydney, with each receiving between $2,500 – $7,500 in funding to support strategic and innovative projects with mid to long-term outcomes.
