Guides report on their Alice in Wonderland Camp

By Liana of Helensburgh Guides Unit

On the 25th to 27th November 2022 we went on camp in Mittagong, Southern Highlands at a place called Bebrue.

Our leader Brolga, Raven, & Maggie attended with myself and all the girl guides. Firstly was a 50 minute car ride from the Guide Hall to Bebrue. I was in the car with Bella, Isla & Maggie, we had quite a funny & awesome ride there.

The camp spot had the house, an archery area and big open land. When we arrived we all went inside to set up and had lunch. Brolga inspected our bunk room and we got the all clear to go outside and have fun.

We decided to run around and look for Kangaroos which was fun to do outside at the end of the day.

Over the next few days we did several fun activities including a Queen of Hearts Croquet match, and archery which was funny because everyone missed their targets.

We did a hedge maze at a historic place called Harpers Mansion in Berrima, went back after a picnic lunch and got all dressed up in costumes themed for our special Alice in Wonderland dinner followed by making up a play performance.

We left to go home the next day. I had a lovely time at camp!

Leader's note: In addition, a magnificent Madhatter tea party was held with Wonderland snacks! All the amazing food was made and prepared by Maggie for the whole camping trip and included Blue caterpillar pasta salad, Blue pancakes, and decorated cookies.
