Artists and art lovers gathered at Clifton School of Arts for the launch of The Gentle Project on Friday, December 1, 2023.

The Gentle Project celebrates the life and legacy of Ian Gentle, who lived and worked in the Illawarra from 1986 to 2009. It includes two exhibitions at Wollongong Art Gallery and one at Clifton School of Arts; a book titled Ian Gentle: The Found Line; a short film about the artist's life; a series of public talks and workshops; and a range of merchandise, including linen tea towels, caps and notebooks.

The series of free talks starts this Wednesday, December 6 at Wollongong Art Gallery with "Ian Gentle: Artist, Teacher and Influencer".  From 11am until noon, WAG program director John Monteleone and artists will discuss how the sculptor influenced their thinking and practice.
