Northern Villages Art Trail wins cultural grant

Following our April “call out” to  local artists interested in establishing a Northern Villages Art Trail, a group of nearly 20 people met to brainstorm options and successfully secured a $4000 Wollongong City Cultural Grant to get started.

The Bundeena-Mainanbar Trail is our model as it offers a unique way to view artists practising their craft and displaying their work through opening their studios to visitors from far and wide. Visitors come and take a look at the area, its artists and sometimes buy a work that takes their fancy.

Our northern villages provide the perfect background to do likewise. Our area is beautiful beyond words. There are many professional and amateur artists in our area. Indeed, our area is perfectly positioned to not only set up our own art trail experience but also to nurture and expand the abundant opportunities it offers to artists and associated businesses catering for visitors. We aim to trial a November/pre-Christmas and pre-Easter weekend “Artists Trail”, so please consider joining the fun.

Wollongong City Council has made it possible and we are so happy and grateful for their interest.

Please contact Edith McNally at mcnallyedith@gmail.com if you would like to participate in any way.
